Another day has come and gone by, with lots of thoughts of emotions accompanying it. Was so busy trying to do all i wanted to do while neglecting my inner soul. As i sit down to think, I am harbouring a bitter spirit, a sour mood. When we are hurt by others, it is natural to experience bad mood. And when healing does not come, we become defensive, sliding into deception and hypocrisy. We talk to friends, think to ourselves and convince ourselves with lies that supposedly makes us feel better. It works! But only for a while. Deep down inside, we know better.
Discontentment, jealousy, bitterness, resentment, defensiveness, touchiness, and ingratitude are the dispositions that ruin our lives, and those of others too. Guard our hearts from such destructive attitudes. And when they arise, confess them, let them go, and experience God’s forgiveness.
But I still feel hurt! What do I do? Well, I believe we have to trust in God. Trust that He will heal you. Just let go of your grudges, don’t try to heal yourself, but let Him do the work. It’s hard, but it’s the best way afterall. Ultimately, He created us, so He should know best.
I am describing what I’m going through. It’s easy for me to say “trust in the Lord!”, but frankly, I am still struggling to let go of those destrutive attitudes. I am still struggling to trust in God completely. For a while, I may trust in Him and experience peace. But when i’m reminded of the hurts again, I tend to become bitter. It’s terrible, i know. Maybe it’s just a natural tendency for Man to sin. And life is a continual process of overcoming these sins when they arise. Hopefully, through perseverence (in fighting against sin), we will build up our defensive mechanism against sin. Haha.. it’s kinda like a virus, we build up our body defence by fighting against it. Yeah, some people fail in the fight and fall sick or even lose their lives. But those who keep fighting survives and lives! By God’s grace, I will survive!
Little quotes to share:
Don’t let your bad attitude cause you to lose out while others enter into joy. – David Roper
When anger lingers in our heart,
It poisons all we think and do;
When faith seeks ways to show God’s love
It keeps our spirit strong and true. – D. De Haan
Resentment comes from looking at others; contentment comes from looking at God.
