God gave me a hole in my heart, which aches once in a while to remind me to rely on Him. I’m talking about a physically hole, one that exists under the doctors’ examination. I’m thankful for those heart aches, which tells me that I am not completely healthy, and that i need to take care of my health (physical and spiritual) to have a long life.
Our body has a way of telling us what we need. When we’re hungry, we are reminded to eat. When we’re thirsty, we’re reminded to drink. When we’re tired, we are reminded to rest. How about the soul? What does the soul need? And what signals does our body send to remind us to fulfil those needs?
My soul needs spiritual food. When I forget about God for too long, my life breaks down. Sins like anger, jealousy, discontentment, and depression are all signals my body send to remind me to feed my soul with Spiritual food. By spiritual food i mean being with God. This could be through spiritual practices like reading the bible, praying, going to church, spending time with fellow Christians and worshiping God through singing songs or dancing or writing about His good works etc etc.. What’s more important is to be reminded of God’s words which includes his promises, reminders, challeges, and knowledge of God.
For my non-Christian friends out there, why don’t you pick up the bible to read as a self-help book? I am sure you will benefit from it. As for my brothers and sisters in Christ, always turn to God’s words for guidance and comfort ya. It’s the best chicken soup for the soul!
